Looking forward to getting the word out: Re-Elect Michelle Ascencion for County Clerk and Recorder on June 2nd, 2026!

Campaign Season for the June 2nd Primary Election has officially begun!

Can you believe that it's been ten years since I first ran for public office? It all started in my beloved hometown of Oxnard, where I was elected as City Clerk in 2016. I was preparing for re-election in 2020 when the County Clerk and Recorder at the time, Mark Lunn, asked me to be his deputy at the County as the Assistant Clerk-Recorder. After serving in that role two years I successfully won the countywide election for County Clerk and Recorder, becoming the first woman and first person of color to do so in Ventura County's 150+ year history.

So in ten years after winning two elections, it's pretty incredible that this is the first time I've ever run for RE-election. I'm so grateful for all the support I've received from the communities that I'm proud to serve. I have learned much during my five years with the County and grown both professionally and personally. Best of all, I work with the most amazing team of public professionals -- the men and women of the County Clerk-Recorder and Registrar of Voters Office. I'm so blessed to work alongside them and serve the community we love with dedication and excellence.

This re-election journey has only begun -- the 78 days until Election Day are going to fly by! I'll be posting often so please check back again soon. Thank you for taking the time to read my first campaign blog post!

With gratitude,

Michelle Ascencion, County Clerk and Recorder
